Men are in a epic battle for their souls. Too many men have neglected their duty to sons, boys, young men, women, family and the community. This derelict of duties and responsibilities has harmed a generation of children and the community.

Our sons, boys and young men are in the fight of their lives! Too many men are angry, hurt and spiritually lonely. They have been abandon by their dads and men in the community. They feel the emotional and mental pain of neglect.

The late great Frederick Douglass, an author, abolitionist and Washington, DC Ward 8 resident said, “It’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Every community of men that have neglected our sons, boys and young men, needs to repent, confess and restore.

If you are blessed to have had your dad in the home during your childhood and adolescence, who loved, cared for and supported you, then we are especially calling you for duty. We need you to share your experiences, give your input and help us heal the brotherhood who didn’t have a father present. Together, we must hold each other accountable for doing right by the LORD, ourselves, wives, children (boys and girls), babies mommas (if not married) and the community where we live.

We do not want any boy, son or young men feel lonely, left-out, abandoned, neglected, discouraged, disparaged, hopeless, unloved, fearful or ignorant of how to become a confident, brilliant, prosperous and successful man.

Together, we can recover, save, restore, bandage, rehab, heal, love, support and train our boys and young men to live their best lives ever.

We must learn how to relate, connect and associate with every young man we know. We must demonstrate our love, concern and care. They must see, hear and feel us nearby. We must become our brothers keeper in actions.

We must engage boys and young men in conversation. We must ask questions of care. We must assess where they are in the cycle of life. We must linger and listen without judgement. We must follow up with needful resources.

We must take charge of our male community responsibilities and live in harmony. King David said, “How good and pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity.” (Psalms 133:1)

We must help every young man to transition from a boy to a man. “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I understood like a child, I thought like a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians 13:11) Why? Because life is not a game! It takes man to man training for a boy to put away childish things and become a man. Manhood initiation should come from the male community of mature men.

The brotherhood must help every boy transition from boyhood to manhood; from needing help to providing help; and from needing a father to provide for him to providing for himself, wife and children. The brotherhood must help every young man to become a responsible hunter, provider and warrior. We must teach fundamental and advanced life skills. We must teach each male how to manage and lead a household and/or a group of men. We must teach men to honor, love and protect our woman, children and community.

Every boy and young man needs a functioning brotherhood of accomplished men to help them achieve self-control, education, financial sustainability, security and prosperity.

Lastly, we obligated to introduce our sons, boys and young men to the Supreme Being, whose image we are made. We must seek the LORD’s wisdom, direction and will for our lives. Only he can empower and help us to live morally and justly.

Therefore, I, Cornel Dunmore, call all men of goodwill to duty. Please report for duty today! We need you on the front line. We need you to make sacrifices for our sons, boys and men. Now is the time to invest your time, skills, talents and resources to build the brotherhood.

Call for Duty Men’s Conference meets on the third Saturday of the month from 6 pm to 8 pm and daily in our Facebook Group, where we brainstorm, discuss, devise, organize, plan tactics, strategies and programs that will benefit our sons, boys, young men and adult men. We also reserve time to establish personal relationships, forge friendships and everlasting bonds.

If you seek and desire to help boys, young men and adult brothers succeed in life, then I implore you to sign up for duty today!
